November Summary

Another month! November flew by just like that. The markets were pretty steady so it was difficult to hunt for bargains - though I did snatch up some Thanksgiving shopping bargains at Walmart (WMT) and Target (TGT). With the extended sales, it seems that people are adjusting. I don't see the crowds that I used to see and you can buy virtually everything online. However, a lot of people are buying TVs - though I don't know if it means anything at all. I did read recently that the wealthy watches 1 hr of TV compared with almost 5+ hrs for the Not so Wealthy. And what they watch is mostly news compared with reality programs.

More wealthy folks habits can be found here:

Sorry, I don't have any information on blogging habits of the rich and wealthy.

Anyway, back to November.

I wrote the following articles in November:

Another thing I started in November was to transfer my 401k mutual fund assets to DGI stocks. Instead of liquidating all the assets and funding my DGI purchases in a go, I decided to take it slowly. I am not sure if this is the right approach, but it is the approach I am most comfortable with.

So, for my report, I will show both taxable and tax deferred accounts. I also have ROTH accounts and real estate assets  which I don't show so this is not a representation of all my investments.

Taxable Account

The details of my purchases are shown in the table below. For all the work ($4,004 investments), I expect an addition of $118 to my yearly dividends.

I truly believe in regular investments to smooth out the effect of a erratic, non-logical market. I have added close to $95k of fresh capital since August 2014.

Company Diversification

I have 30 companies now - not including SOUHV since it hasn’t delivered with any dividends yet. It’s such a small position that it doesn’t really impact my portfolio.

Sector Diversification

I am still weak in the healthcare sector. I will try to focus on this area in the coming weeks (and months) assuming the sector stays low.

Dividend Income

I am very happy to report a dividend income of $224 last month. I am glad every time I exceed the $200 mark which covers a lot of my monthly expenses.

The chart below shows the trend month over month, which is moving in the right direction.
I can’t wait to report the December numbers. Hopefully, I can repeat September’s performance!

Estimated Forward Dividends

My forward estimated dividends is $3287. I am very pleased with the steady growth.

Taxable Account Summary

The market has mostly recovered. Likewise, my portfolio is tracking closely with the market. I am only down around 1% like last month. My yield is right where I want to be - between 3-4%.

401k Tax Deferred Account

My apologies here for the lack of detail. I just started adding the DGI option in my 401k account. For now, I will just detail the transactions until I get several months of data of investments and dividends.

The details of my purchases are shown in the table below. This is not fresh capital since I am reallocating funds inside my 401k. Based on the transactions, I expect an addition of $286 to my yearly dividends. The previous fund was primarily focused on capital appreciation.

Summary

I am extremely happy with the progress of my investments. My taxable account is on track with around to $95k invested with forward annual dividend income of $3287. This is all fresh capital, meaning I am literally investing paycheck to paycheck. In December, I probably need to scale back my weekly investments to prepare for my tax payments and insurance for early next year. The joy of property ownership....

Lastly, I am glad that I opened up my 401k for DGI investing. This is a slow process - but I know I had to change since the fees were (are still) killing me. I look forward to track and report my changes in this account over time.

That’s it for all. How was your November?

    1. Vivianne, thanks. Actually, with my 401k, I hit the 100k mark before. However, it does feel good when I hit the 100k for the taxable account. It should be in 1Q of next year.
      Thanks for visiting!
